Richard McElrath Bobb, 84, of St. Simons Island, departed this life Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at his residence. A celebration of Life will be conducted at 2pm on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Marsh's Edge in the Oglethorpe Room.
Born November 13, 1938 in Three Rivers, Michigan to the late William and Ruth Bobb, he was a graduate of Depauw University and was a member of Tri Delta Fraternity. He married JoAnn Mosbaugh on July 1, 1962. He began his career working for Paper Packaging Company, and in 1973 went to work for King and Prince Seafood in Brunswick, Georgia until his retirement. The couple built a home in St. Simons in Wymberly, and then The Island Club in 1987.
Mr. Bobb enjoyed cooking and entertaining at their home and played his weekly golf games on Sea Island. Richard also cooked Breakfast for the men’s group at St. Simons Presbyterian Church, and was the Bailii of the Golden Isles Chaine des Rotisseurs. He was also know for singing when out at local restaurants such as Ziggy Mahony and The Red Barn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jay William Bobb.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn M. Bobb of St. Simons Island, Susie Alexander, sister-in-law, of St. Simons Island, Polly Hyde(Sarah and Addison) Niece, David Bobb(Rachel and Jay) Nephew, Oklahoma, Jennifer Bobb Hulsey,(Samantha)Niece Oklahoma, Anna McMillan (John) sister in law, Oklahoma.
