

Mr. Landis was born on June 21, 1918, in Wilmington, North Carolina, he was the eldest son of the late Margaret and Earle Landis. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, attending Boys High and Georgia State Evening College.
Mr. Landis is survived by his wife, married seventy-five years, Theodosia Ripley Landis; along with his sons, Steve Landis (Janie) and Allan Landis (Lura); his daughter, Ouida Chambless (Phil); in addition to seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, he is also survived by his sister, Betty Payne. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Landis, Bob Landis, and Maryanne Jones.
During World War II, Mr. Landis enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942, received his wings in February 1943, and due to his multi-engine skills, was sent to train on the new B-24 Bomber. Because of his exceptional proficiency, he was assigned as an Instructor Pilot, promoted to Captain, and spent the remainder of the war graduating one class after another of B-24 pilots. Following the war, he worked in the construction and building industry. He later joined the Trust Company of Georgia (now Sun Trust) in 1960. He worked as the Building Manager until his retirement in 1985. During his life, he was a member of BOMA, active in Boy Scouts, and a member of both Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta and St. Simons Presbyterian Church.
A memorial Service to honor Mr. Landis’ life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 21, 2016 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia. Reverend Bob Brearley will officiate the service and Reverend Alan Dyer will assist.
