Robert Daniel Reid (Bob) went to be with our Lord November 29, 2025. He fought a difficult battle with his health and is now at peace. Moving to St. Simons Island from Southern California in 2002 he married Lorene Ledingham and embraced and loved the St. Simons Island community.
Bob leaves behind his wife- Lorene Ledingham Reid, mother-in-law Joyce Ledingham; three sisters Nancy (Don) Tune, Patty Ramuno, and Wendy Lewis; three children Christian (Brendy) Reid, Mason Reid, Graham (Courtney) Reid and their children (Atlas, Adilaide, Alessia); stepchildren, Amy Ledingham Gordon (Danny) and their children- Alexa Freije (Alex) and baby Liam Freije, Isaiah Gordon and Drew Gordon, and Ryan Bundo (Kayla); and several nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in southern California, Bob was a graduate of Clairemont High School in San Diego. Later graduating at San Diego State University, he enjoyed competing on the sailing team and singing in the choir. He was very proud of SDSU’s basketball team, especially when they won the NCAA championship in 2023.
With love for his country, Bob was honored to serve in the US Army in the 1960s. As a proud veteran, locally he was a member of VFW Post 4092 and of MOAA (Military Officers Association of America).
St. Simons Presbyterian Church was his honored place of worship. He loved singing in the choir, one of his greatest passions since childhood.
Bob loved people and chose jobs that reflected his love for personal interaction with others. He worked at Lucent Technologies in marketing and project management. When he retired he decided to spend more time at his favorite place on earth by working at Disneyland! He enjoyed being a conductor on the train and a guide in the Walt Disney and Abraham Lincoln displays. Bob was a lifetime Disney Fan and especially loved the history behind it. After moving to St. Simons Island in 2002, he continued with local ‘retirement’ jobs at Sea Island Company as a butler, driver and in Concierge Services.
Bob’s kindness and warm smile will be missed and a service celebrating his life will be held in January, a date to be announced later. In memory of his life, donations can be made to the VFW Post 4092 (put Relief Fund in note) P.O. Box 20284, St. Simons Island, GA 31522.
