Robert M. White 77, of Brunswick, Georgia passed away peacefully Sunday, the 12th of January 2020 in the comfort of his home and his favorite recliner. He defied all the odds (and all the doctors!) by valiantly battling COPD and numerous terminal cancers for over 20 years. Robert “Bob” was born in Omaha Nebraska the 6th of August 1942 to the late Robert Matheson White, Sr. and the late Freda Freml White. He served four years in the US Navy, primarily aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Oriskany (The Mighty O!) After being stationed at Glynco Jet Port, he fell in love with Glynn County and decided to make Brunswick his forever home. Bob was employed by Hercules for over 35 years until his retirement in 1999. In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by the love of his life, Betty Ann Tyler White. They were married for 44 years, and are now reunited at last after her death in 2008. Also preceded in death by his siblings Judy, Jackie, Janet, and Ted. Robert is survived by his three daughters, Sarah White Baird (Mike) of St. Mary’s GA, Laura White Chan (Joseph) of Morristown, NJ, and Barbara White Tunnell (Stephen) of Tioga, TX, as well as his beloved four grandchildren, James Tomblin, Elizabeth Harrison-White, Jeffrey Chan, and Eleanor Chan. Also survived by brother Tim White of Ohama, NE, and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation is to be held 6 PM – 8 PM Thursday, the 16th of January 2020 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, 3321 Glynn Ave., in Brunswick, Georgia. Our hearts are heavy, as you said although we knew he was in bad health, it hit hard knowing he passed. My husband Jerry Parker has missed him so much since he moved from Brunswick. Bob was a great friend. All the family are in our prayers. May all feel His comfort and Love.

While my heart is filled with sorrow, I need to give joy and thanks for the fact that he was such a strong individual who was able to overcome the odds and share so many years with you girls. Your mom and dad meant the world to me, and my mom cherished them more than you will ever know. I love you 3 crazy gals and my heart is with you at this difficult time. ❤️❤️❤️

I am so sad to hear of your dad‘s passing. He was my friend. I moved away from Brunswick in 2011. But, prior to that, I would have wonderful conversations with him and his friends on Wednesday mornings over coffee at Target. He happened across my path one day and he had asked me to join them. What a wonderful friend! He extended great kindness to me when I was still mourning the passing of my mother. I laughed a lot at those guys… And I miss them! I can’t imagine your loss but know what a great friend and man he was!

I'm so sorry for your loss. He was an awesome man, with a kind and comical spirit. He sure put up with us as teenagers and all our antics. I loved him and your mother so much for always making me feel like family.
