

Rory Thomas Finnerty, 60, of Brunswick, GA passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at his residence. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday May 18, 2015 at the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior of service 1 p.m. – 2 p.m., with Reverend Jim Crandall officiating. Cremation immediately following the service.
Mr. Finnerty was born November 25, 1954 in Denville, New Jersey to Francis Finnerty and Evelyn Booker Finnerty. He had been a resident of Glynn County for 18 years.
Mr. Finnerty received his Associate of Applied Science Degree from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa and was a member of Indian Hills Academy Honor Society. He received his 2nd Associate of Applied Science Degree in Networking Technology from Coastal Georgia Community College and was employed by the City of Brunswick in IT Support for 11 years.
Rory was a member of the Island Players where he performed in Guys & Dolls, Pajama Game and Arsenic & Old Lace.
He also performed at the Ritz Theatre in A Christmas Carol as Jacob Marley.
Rory also had a fondness for Jekyll Island and he and Dorothy spent many happy days there. He also had a love for animals and especially his favorite felines.
Mr. Finnerty is preceded in death by a brother, Brian Finnerty.
Survivors include his sister Deirdre Ann Force and brother-in-law Peter Force of Townsend, GA and a brother Brendan Finnerty and sister-in-law Becki Finnerty of Eaton, NY and a sister-in-law Johanna Finnerty of Utica, NY;two daughters, Barbara Piacenti ( Mark) and Lisa Finnerty and a son, Sean Finnerty of Utica, NY, several nieces and nephews and grandchildren and his soul mate and constant companion Dorothy Mees of Brunswick, GA.
Family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Southeast GA.
