

Ruby Ellen Briggs Sloan, 77, of Brunswick, GA passed away Wednesday the 13th of February 2013 at her residence. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church 2 PM Saturday the 16th of February 2013 with Rev. Edward G. Williams officiating. Inurnment will follow the service in the church columbarium.
Family will receive friends following the service at a reception in the Parrish Hall.
Mrs. Sloan is a lifelong resident of Brunswick, GA born the 2nd of October, 1935, to the late Cody and Edna Briggs. Mrs. Sloan was a self employed beautician having an degree in cosmetology, and a member of St. Marks’s Episcopal Church. She enjoyed spending time and cooking for her family. She especially enjoyed meeting and having lunch with a special group of friends.on Friday’s. Mrs. Sloan leaves behind many fond memories that will be cherished by all.
In addition to Mrs. Sloan’s parents she is preceded in death by her husband William George Sloan, Sr., son-in-law Mike Atkins, and a brother Gene Briggs.
Survivors include her children Debbie Kicklighter( Keith )of St. Simons Island; Stacy Atkins of Brunswick; and William G. “Rusty” Sloan, Jr.( Lee ) of Brunswick; grandchildren, Amber Kleinschmidt (Justin) of New York City; and Ali Kicklighter of Gunnison, CO; Sloan Taylor (William) of Brunswick; and Chance Gilliland (Kalae) of Brunswick; great grandchildren Cody and Kinsley Taylor, Briggs and Brooks Gilliland; sisters Dorothy Roberts of Brunswick, Nita Bud Long of Clearwater, FL; and Helen Maynard of Thomasville; a brother Malcom Briggs of Florida.; best friend Alda Taylor, and a very special friend Hank the dog; and many other relatives.
