Ruby Webb Souter

On November 26, 2014 Ruby made the journey to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ruby was born on February 12, 1954 to Carroll Loflin Webb, Sr. and Ruby Boyd Webb of Brunswick. She was a lifelong resident of Brunswick and lifelong member of Glyndale Baptist Church. Ruby graduated from Brunswick High School in 1972 and Brunswick Junior College in 1974 with a degree in Drafting. She was a gifted and talented draftsman. She along with her husband, Jimmy, designed and built many beautiful homes in the area through their partnership in Jimmy Souter Construction Company. Ruby possessed great business skills and she displayed them daily as co-owner of Southern Hardware, Highway 17 Mini Warehouses, Southern Storage and their much loved “Mountain Cabins” in Franklin, North Carolina.

She was known for her warm greetings and assisted everyone with a smile, quick wit and helpful demeanor. Ruby wore many hats in her daily life and was abundantly skilled in all her many roles serving others. She always found time to talk to friends, family and new acquaintances. Her wonderful traits were numerous and she was loved by many. As surrogate Grandmother to all the little ones she met, Ruby always possessed a gift for communicating with children. She loved being a Sunday School teacher to the children and dearly loved the church nursery. Grateful parents would look for Ruby’s presence in the nursery, knowing their children were in the excellent hands of someone who could delight their children’s hearts and soothe their tears. Ruby was a friend and loving servant to everyone she came in contact with, truly putting in action “Love one another as I have loved you.” She regarded her greatest roles in life as a devoted wife and partner to her husband, Jimmy and loving Mother to her son, Jamie, loving daughter to her Mother, Ruby Webb, wonderful big sister to Rachel and Buddy and caring sister-in-law to Linda, Petey and Stephanie. Ruby will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Preceding her in death is her father, C.L. Webb, Sr. Her survivors include her spouse, Jimmy Souter, her son, Jamie Souter (Jessica Aldridge) her Mother, Ruby Webb, her sister, Rachel (Petey) Harper, her brother, Buddy (Stephanie) Webb, and sister-in-law, Linda Souter, all of Brunswick.

Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Starling, Adam Lane, Gary Parmenter, Doug Coffey, Danny Aldridge, Dustin Rowell, David Rowell and Lonnie Brockington.

Honorary pallbearers will be Employees of Southern Hardware, Members of Joyous Believers Sunday School Class, Camping Friends, Lewis and Betty Jo Mason, Chuck and Snowie Herrera, Von and Markie Drew, Virgil and JoAnn Smith, Albert Flanagan and Chris Sobala.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 6-8PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 1, 2014 at 11AM at Glyndale Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Creekmore officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Glyndale Baptist Church Expansion Project Fund or a charity of your choice.
