Ruth Croft Kent, 91, departed this life on January 15, 2022 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. She was born September 9, 1930 in Brunswick, Georgia, the daughter of Carl Evan Croft and Grace Temple Croft. Ruth graduated from Glynn Academy, Class of 1948 and continued her education at Perry Business School.
On April 15, 1950, she married Harold Franklin Kent, living their life of 51 years together in the Golden Isles.
Ruth began her career at Glynn Ice and Coal Company and shortly thereafter changed careers beginning her 32-year service with Glynco Naval Air Station/Federal Law Enforcement Training Center concluding as Director Of Human Resources
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Harold and her son, Allen Carl Kent, her parents Carl and Grace Croft and her brother, Dr. Carl Croft.
Ruth is survived by her children, all of Brunswick, Georgia: David Louis Kent (Brenda), James Franklin Kent, Sr. (Symone), Linda Kay Kretzschmar (Rick).
Ruth was “Granny” to grandchildren Crystal K. Aitken (Philip), James Franklin Kent, Jr. (Carrie), Kaylin Ruth Kretzschmar, Daniel Louis Kent, David Franklin Kent, Aimee Goodrich and Allen Carl Kent, II (Heather).
Ruth was also blessed with great grandchildren, Paisley Haven Kent and Paylen Olivia Kent, Grace Argentina Aitken, Camille Merritt Aitken, and William Harold Kent.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will include visitation at Edo Miller Funeral Home, Friday, January 21 from 5:30-7:30 pm. The funeral service will be Saturday, January 22 at St Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2:00 pm with Reverend Alan Akridge officiating. Burial will follow at Palmetto Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Billy Brooks, Robert Jones, Lanny Mosley, Mark Shorb, and Billy Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers are The Daughters of The King and Saint Agnes Guild.
