

Mr. Ryan Howard Garner, 70, passed away on July 7, 2010. Ryan was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Georgia Tech, and graduated from Southern Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Ryan was married to Donna Kay Garner, the love of his life, and they raised six awesome children. He retired from Siemens Inc. after 34 years of service as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. Ryan and Donna moved to McIntosh County in 1988. He was a faithful member of Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Ryan was an avid wood craftsman, champion scrabble player, life long banjo player, and loved the beautiful coast of Georgia. He was a devoted, loving, Christian, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all. There are not enough words to express how much we will miss our beloved Ryan and what a blessing he was to his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Dr. and Mrs. John P Garner Sr., brother John P. Garner Jr., and his son Dr. John Allen Garner. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna K Garner a.k.a. “sweetheart”, his children Darlene Gaboriau, Dee Taylor, Jimmy Garner, Brandy Garner, Tina Garner, and Nina Dean. His grand children, Candace, Steven, John, Charlie, Davey, Casey, Kirby, Sarah, Megan, Kory, Jacob, Andre, Nadine, Amanda, Ryan, and Thomas, and great grandchildren Landon and Brianna, brother David Garner, and several nieces and nephews.
The celebration of his life will be held at Morgan’s Chapel UMC on Friday, July 9, at 3:00 pm. The family will receive condolences at the church prior to the service from 1:30 to 3:00. Burial to be immediately following the funeral at St. Andrews cemetery in Darien Georgia. The family requests that memorial donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Morgan’s chapel UMC building fund.
