

Sandra Dianne Chambless Davis was born in Nashville, GA on November 28, 1943 to Rudolph and Vivian Chambless. She grew up in Allendale, SC and Nashville, GA with her sister, Gail. She graduated from Berrien County High School and soon moved to Brunswick, GA where she worked at Winn Dixie. She met Lee (Jerry) Davis there and they were married in January, 1964. She had two sons, Mike and Jerry, and the family lived on Blythe Island.
She worked for the Glynn County School System for 20 years, first at Ballard Elementary and the later at Risley Elementary. After that, she spend close to 30 years working on Jekyll Island at the Welcome Center. While there, she, along with Dorothy Carswell created the Jekyll Island’s Treasured Recipes cookbook, which helped raise thousands of dollars for the Turtle Center. The cookbook sold out of 4 editions.
She was much beloved by those she worked with and helped. She, also, volunteered many years at Manna House in Brunswick, GA. She loved Boxer dogs, as she grew up with them and kept them her whole life. In addition, everyone knows she was a huge fan of Elvis Presley music. She was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves, as well.
Mom touched many lives and will be remembered very fondly by many people. She bravely fought cancer in the last few years and sadly lost her battle on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband, Jerry Davis (October 16, 2020). She is survived by her 2 sons, Mike and Jerry, and her sister, Gail Gaskins.
Her memory will never be forgotten, as she has touched so many in her 81 years of life. She was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and coworker and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
A service will be held at the Jekyll Island Baptist Church on Jekyll Island at 1pm Saturday, January 18, 2025. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1pm, with service to follow.
