Sara Jane McGee Gressel, 85, of Brunswick, GA, passed away Thursday, the 10th of December 2020. Sara was born the 14th of July 1933 in Bradley, Arkansas to the late Burrell and Plennie Glasgow McGee. Growing up, Sara played basketball and was named Watermelon Queen of Southwest Arkansas. Sara was a graduate of Patmos High School in Patmos, Arkansas. She met Floyd in Shreveport, Louisiana and they were married in Savannah, Georgia in 1953. They moved to Glynn County in 1954. She was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Women’s Missionary Union and enjoyed helping others even volunteering as a Pink Lady at the hospital. Her hobbies included gardening, shopping, sewing, fishing, traveling all over United States and making jewelry. She was a homemaker, first raising her children and then caring for grandchildren. She was loved by her family and many friends and her memory will be cherished by all.
In addition to Mrs. Gressel’s parents she was preceded in death by her three sisters, three brothers and their spouses.
Survivors include her loving husband Floyd Gressel of Brunswick, Georgia; her children, Valerie Gressel Little (Mitchell) and Michael E. Gressel (Cynthia); her grandchildren, Stephen Little (Elizabeth), Tracey L. Wendel (Alan), and Rachel Gressel; and her great-grandchildren, Logan Wendel, Cadence Wendel, Emma Little and Kevin Little, all of Brunswick. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P. M. Wednesday the 16th of December 2020 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
A funeral service is to be held 11 A.M. Thursday, the 17th of December 2020 at Pine Ridge Baptist Church, where Rev. Jerry Johns is to officiate. Interment will follow the service at Palmetto Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers are Stephen Little, Nick Roundtree, Mickey Wendel, Justin Drawdy, Jim DeLoach, and Geraldo Lara.
The Dorcas Class is honorary pallbearers.
