Sharon Holt Folsom, age 81, of Brunswick, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025, just one day after her beloved husband, Dennis Folsom. Their deep bond and devotion to one another endured through life and beyond.
Sharon was born in Dublin, Georgia, and raised near Soperton. She was the daughter of the late James Elmo Holt and Allie Grace Wilkes Holt. After the death of her father in World War II, her mother remarried Wade Brantley, who lovingly became the only father Sharon ever knew.
A 1962 graduate of Treutlen High School, Sharon went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree from Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon in 1964. She then continued her education at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, graduating in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
Sharon dedicated her professional life to teaching and nurturing children. She began her 30-year teaching career with the Glynn County School System, where she taught generations of students at Altama Elementary School. After retirement, she continued her service to others, working with the Arthur J. Moore Methodist Museum for six years and later supporting a group of insurance adjusters before fully retiring.
A woman of deep faith and generous spirit, Sharon was an active member of College Place United Methodist Church. She joyfully served her church community by teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and holding various leadership roles throughout the years. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and love of reading and cooking.
Sharon is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Folsom; her sister, Sandra Grace Holt; and her “adopted” grandson, Miccah G. Williamson. She is survived by her godson, Alan F. Wendel (Tracey); her goddaughter, Amy Wendel Powers (Jason); her two sister-in-law’s Sue Ellen Green (Harley) and Elaine F. Hollamans (Larry); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A double funeral service for Sharon and Dennis Folsom will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025, in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Contributions on her behalf can be made to College Place United Methodist Church.
