She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter Frederick Meilander. A beloved teacher for over thirty years, she enjoyed her retirement on Jekyll Island, joining many organizations there. She was a member of St. Richard's Church on Jekyll Island.
She is survived by three daughters; Margery (Rick) Hankinson of Greenville, SC; Linda Hambright of Brunswick, Georgia; and Amy Meilander of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Grandchildren are Jessica Bragg, Spartanburg, SC, Thomas Hankinson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rebecca Dean of Grand Lodge, Michigan, and Sam Hambright of Brunswick, Georgia. Great grands include Raina Ann Harwood, Aiden Kimball, Liam Harwood, Frost Hankinson, Cecily Hankinson, Wyatt Hambright, Sadie Hambright, and Hunter Dean.
