In loving memory of Steven Sprott who died peacefully at home with his family on Wednesday, May 6th at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald E. and Mary L. Sprott, as well as his sister Sharon Heston.
Steven was born in Auburn, Indiana on March 25th, 1937. As a young man he worked on the B&O Railroad, as his grandfather had, prior to enrolling at Purdue University. He graduated from Purdue with a degree in pharmacy. After college Steven served a period of active duty in the Army chemical corps, as a First Lieutenant, followed by eight years in the Army reserve. He went on to have a successful career as a registered pharmacist for over 40 years. Steven earned his private pilot license in 1960. He used his chemistry background to learn the art of brewing beer and wine which he did for many years. He enjoyed the natural world and liked both classical and country music. He was a practical man who also had a great sense of humor that popped up at unexpected moments.
Steven and his future wife Mary Tuten met in the Army at Fort McClellan, AL. They had the pleasure of living in some beautiful places throughout their 64 years of marriage, including Hamilton Lake, IN, Dana Point and Laguna Niguel, CA, and Fernandina Beach, FL. They enjoyed traveling in the United States as well as tours in Europe. Steven and Mary had a long life together. Mary loved him very much and will miss him every day.
Steven was a loving and devoted father who always taught and shared his knowledge with his children. He was the most caring, supportive, understanding, patient, generous and selfless father any children could hope for. He always did his best to help his children find their way through all phases of their lives, celebrating their wins and consoling their losses and heartbreaks. His children are both honored to have spent the last few years of his life with him.
Steven is survived by his wife Mary as well as his daughter Donna Sedevie, his son Jon Sprott and his wife Michelle, and grandchildren, Alexandra Sedevie and her husband Ryan Williams and Serena and Henry Sprott.
He leaves a million happy memories of his life and times with family and friends, because he loved them with all his heart.
