Sue Hefner Garrett

Sue Hefner Garrett, 90, of Jekyll Island, Ga., passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Senior Care Center, Brunswick, GA. She had been a resident of Jekyll Island, GA for the past 29 years. Born in Lewisburg, West Virginia on June 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Seward Ralph Hefner and the late Evelyn Lola Bennett Hefner. She graduated from Greenbriar High School and continued her education at West Virginia Wesleyan, West Virginia University and Salem College. Mrs. Garrett was employed by the Harrison County Board of Education.

In addition to Mrs. Garrett’s parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years Ed Garrett, and a son Michael Late Garrett.

Survivors include Mrs. Garrett’s daughter and son-in- law Martha (Marty) Bumgarner and Dana of Jekyll Island, GA, and Orlando, FL; son Mitchell Sutton Garrett of Bridgeport, WV.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Mr. Gary Kicklighter, formerly of St. Simons Island. For the love , compassion, and caring for Sue.

Celebration of life will be held for Sue and her late husband ED at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at Jekyll Presbyterian Community Church, 500 N. Riverview Dr., Jekyll Island, Ga., with Reverend Burt Cramer officiating. An additional celebration of life will be held for Sue at the Brunswick Senior Care, 2611 Wildwood Dr. Brunswick, Ga., at 11 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016.
