Susan Harvey Slaughter

Susan Harvey Slaughter, age 52, of Hamlet, NC and formerly of Brunswick, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC after a short illness. Susan graduated from Brunswick High in 1980. She worked as a dental hygienist for Yeargan Dentistry for approximately 20 years prior to marrying and moving to North Carolina in 2011. She was an avid bargain shopper but also loved spending time outdoors gardening, fishing and riding motorcycles. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Harvey and her maternal grandparents, Harvey and Beulah Jackson.

She is survived by her husband, James A. Slaughter of Hamlet, NC; a son, Corey Geiger (Lauren) of Brunswick; two daughters, Courtney Bratcher (Manuel) and Jessica Slaughter, both of Brunswick; her mother, Dell Harvey of Brunswick; a sister, Kathy Dawson (Perry) of Charleston, SC; a brother, David L. Harvey of Brunswick; six grandchildren, Gracy and Hunter Bratcher, McKenzie Howell, James Bedgood and Chloe and C.J. Geiger, all of Brunswick; father and mother-in-law, Joe and Betty Slaughter of Brunswick; two brothers-in-law, Joey Slaughter (Peggy) and Bill Slaughter (Fran), both of Brunswick; sister-in-law, Sharon Krauss (Ron) of Brunswick and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Fred Higgins officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bert Yeargan, Hank Yeargan, Dustin Harvey, Brian Miller, Danny Harvey and Brandon Ryals.
