In her later years, Sylvia enjoyed playing bingo (and often winning), making crafts, spending time with her children and grandchildren, learning more about her Greek heritage, and found passion in creating cakes for various events in Brunswick. Sylvia was known for always taking pleasure in a bowl of vanilla ice cream.
She retired from the State of Georgia and previously worked for Jekyll Island Authority.
