Dr. Thomas R. Burban

Dr. Thomas Burban, 60, of St. Simons Island, died Thursday, February 11, 2010 at his residence on St. Simons. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at St. Simons Community Church with Rev. Steve Timmerman officiating.

Born December 7, 1949 in Manhattan, New York to Walter Burban and the late Frances Adamowitz Burban, he was an emergency room physician with South East Georgia Health Systems Brunswick Campus. Dr. Burban was a graduate of Chaminade High School on Long Island, A graduate of The University of Bologna Medical School in Bologna, Italy and The University of Dayton. He had been a resident of The Golden Isles for over 28 years. Dr. Burban was an avid surfer, saltwater fisherman, skier, bicyclist and swimmer. He enjoyed his family and friends to the fullest.

Survivors include his children, Cara Burban, Nick Burban and Kait Burban, all of St. Simons Island, Fiancee Robin Harris of St. Simons Island, his father, Walter Burban of St. Simons Island, a brother, Richard Burban and wife Diana of Massapequa, NY, a niece and nephew, Kristin and Brian Burban, extended family, Reid Harris, Malia Harris and Arielle Harris all of St. Simons Island and his former wife, Cynthia Ishikawa of St. Simons Island.
