Thomas Faulkner

Thomas (Tommy) Faulkner, age 95 of Brunswick passed away on January 19th in Jacksonville, Fla after a brief illness.

He was born Feb 2 1925 in Mora (Coffee County) Ga. to Thomas and Bertha Lee Griner Faulkner. He was educated in Coffee County schools and worked on a farm prior to enlisting in the US Army on July 2 1943. Mr. Faulkner served in WWII with 314th Infantry Regiment along with 79th Infantry Division. Landing on Utah Beach in France on June 12, 1944 and during his tenure in the military, he was a recipient of two Purple Hearts.

After his discharge, Mr. Faulkner returned to Georgia and eventually made his way to the Brunswick area where he worked for several local businesses including J. A. Jones shipyards, driving a bus from Brunswick to Sea Island where he met his future wife, also worked at Glynn County School system, Hava Tampa Cigars, Rainbow Drugs and eventually retiring after 32 years with Brunswick Pulp and Paper / Georgia Pacific.

After retirement, he became an avid golfer at Coastal Pines Golf Club where he was one fourth of popular foursome. He also enjoyed swimming and watching the Braves play and coaching the team from his rocking chair. Mr. Faulkner was a volunteer redcoat at the Southeast Ga Health System for many years after his retirement from work. Mr. Faulkner is predeceased by his parents, his loving wife of 67 years Rounelle Perry Faulkner, his grandson Thomas Faulkner III, great-grandson Jeremiah Thomas Edenfield and daughter in law Gail Purvis Faulkner.

He is survived by his two sons, Thomas (Tom) and Charlene Faulkner Jr., Joseph A. Faulkner and daughter Vicki Faulkner all of Brunswick, three grandchildren: Jan Faulkner of Brunswick, Ashley and Brett Winkelmann of Chesapeake Va., James Faulkner of Brunswick, and three great grandchildren Hannah Latham, Peytan and Parker Winkelmann. He is also survived by two sisters Gladys Johnson, Alowee Bradstreet both of Titusville Fla and a host of sister in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services for Mr. Faulkner will be Saturday January 23, 2021 at 11:00, with visitation beginning 10:00 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with burial to follow in Chapel Park Cemetery.

The family request that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Memorial Hospital Heart Center of Jacksonville, Fla 3625 University Blvd, Jacksonville, Fla 32216 in the name of Thomas Faulkner.
