Thomas Patrick Gunning Jr.

Thomas Patrick Gunning, Jr. left his mortal body on July 30, 2022 after a brief, fierce battle with lung cancer. He is now reunited with those loved ones who preceded him to their heavenly reward. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Amanda Waller Gunning; five children, Sharon (Murph) Murphy, Kevin (Lynne) Gunning, William (Tony) Gunning, Steven (Becky) Gunning, and Tomi Gunning Matheson (John Tarlton); step-son, Parker Waller III (Kerri); brother, Robert Gunning, and sister-in-law, Nan Gunning. Also missing their granddad are twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on August 24, 1930, Tom was the oldest son of the late Thomas Patrick Gunning and Margaret Jannette Welch. Tom was preceded in death by his brothers, James Gunning and Eugene Gunning; as well as a step-daughter, Daphne Waller Jenkins. With his sales and marketing skills, Tom made friends throughout the country. Always ready with a joke, he entertained strangers and made them laugh. God created a special person when He created Tom Gunning. A memorial service will be held at Edo Miller Funeral Home on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at three o’clock. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for memorial contributions made in Tom's memory to the American Cancer Society.
