

Mr. Wetherington born in Adel, Georgia the son of the late Fred William and Lessie Lee Wetherington. He lived most of his adult life in Brunswick, Georgia and was married for sixty-four years to his loving wife Catherine S. Wetherington. They were blessed to have four children. Mr. Wetherington served his country with honors in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He was given special honors for his service with the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. After his honorable discharge, He was employed with Food Lion and retired as the store manager. He was also a strong Christian man who was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Brunswick and a member of the Adult Five Sunday School Class.
Mr. Wetherington was preceded in death by his parents, Fred William and Lessie Lee Wetherington; one brother, Willie J. Wetherington. He is survived by his wife, Catherine S. Wetherington of Brunswick, GA; four daughters, Patricia W. Drew (Brian) of Saint Simons Island, GA, Dr. Kimberly W. Megow (Jim) of Valdosta, GA, Shari W. Young (David) of Brunswick, GA, Sandra Simmons (Dr. Robert) of Tifton, GA; a brother, Bobby Wetherington (Brenda) of Valdosta, GA; eleven grandchildren, Evyn E. Garner, Lindsey Megow, Parker Megow, Thomas Megow, William Megow, Ginger Joiner (Clint), Brooke Young, Zachary Mangelsdorf, Austin Mangelsdorf, Ransom Simmons, and Artie Simmons; one great grandchild, Kate Joiner. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 20, 2016 between the hours of 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia. A Funeral Service to give honor to his life will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 20, 2016 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The interment will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Cecil, Georgia.
Mr. Wetherington loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed sports and working in his vegetable garden. He was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan and Georgia Bulldog fan. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
