

Born January 17, 1935 in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late James and Clara M Gonsalves, he was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Gonsalves was a retired Fire Captain from PAFD in Palo, Alto, CA. He was of the Catholic Faith, and had been a resident of St. Simons Island since 1988. Wally was an expert cook, a former marathon runner, enjoyed fishing, and abalone diving on the California Coast. He was also a fantastic gardener, an avid dog lover and enjoyed life to the fullest. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Gonsalves, as well as four siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Kay Gonsalves of St. Simons Island, two children, Michelle Vaillancourt of St. Simons Island, and Jennifer Gonsalves of Palo Alto, CA, and four grandchildren, Eric, Ty, John, and Finn.
