William Allen Chitty

William “Allen” Chitty, 65, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016 on St. Simons Island following a courageous battle with Lewy Body Disease. Born on July 20, 1950, Mr. Chitty was a native of St. Simons Island and a lifelong resident. He graduated from Glynn Academy in 1968 and was thereafter drafted into the service. He retired from Kings Bay Naval Base in 2011.

He was preceded in death by his parents Marie and Euston Chitty of St. Simons Island, a brother, Wade Chitty of Venetia, PA, a brother, Maurice Chitty of St. Simons Island and a sister, Christie Manry also of St. Simons Island.

He is survived by a daughter, Eva-Marie Meherally (Danny) of Atlanta, a son, William Andrew Chitty (Haley) of Mt. Pleasant, a sister, Kay Wiggins of St. Simons Island and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom he loved dearly.

The memorial service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Christ Church Frederica, St. Simons Island, with inurnment to follow immediately after on the parish grounds. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday evening January 19, 2016 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
