It's been one year since my best friend passed away. Instead of spending time with Dalton, fishing in the marsh or driving his beloved Sheila, I know sit and reflect. I ponder on how I will not have a best man at my wedding anymore, no one to tick certain tasks off my bucket list with, or just someone to laugh with. Yet even through the pain and heartache, I can only smile. I know he's watching over me, and he will be at my wedding, right by my side just like nothing happened. The times I was lucky enough to share with Dalton, are my most valued moments in my life. I always look back on the crazy things we did, and smile. I became so close to Woody and Donna, I only call them by there first names. There like second family to me, I feel more at home at their house then at my own. I love them like I love Dalton, and it's not fair to Dalton for us to greeve. He only wanted to bring light and joy into peoples lives, and I know first hand that he did. He would only want us to smile, keep our heads up, and live our lives to the fullest. Never regretting what we have done, just the things we haven't.

Woody and Donna I have taken time to pray for you and your family on a daily basis. I am truly sad about Dalton's departure; however, I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is Christ Jesus Our Lord. Mr. and Mrs. Collins, I am truly sorry for your loss.  I will continue to lift your family up in prayers.  May God bless you and keep you.  I was honored and proud to have shared my love of rugby with Dalton.  I will always remember his first game and the look in his eyes and the smile on his face when he scored his firts "try." Dalton was a sweet, intelligent, caring young man. Our hearts are heavy with tremendous grief.  We wish we could take away your pain. Dalton lived life to the fullest.  He gave 110% in all that he did. He was loved by so many people.  We feel blessed to have known him, if only for a short time.  He is in heaven with God and is smiling down at all of us.  We will always remember his contagious smile.  We are there for you anytime, like you were there for Doug when his leg was broken. (Dalton was in the first group of soccer players to come and visit Doug.  He came two more times after that and was always very compassionate).  He left a mark on our hearts forever.  He will be missed.  We love you and are keeping your family in our prayers.

Mr. and Mrs. Collins, we do not know one another, but I know the pain you are going through. Our son passed away in 2001, two weeks after his graduation from Brunswick High School. Time and God have a way of healing things. The best advice I can give is to keep Dalton's friends close-they can help you get through this. And always remember the good times and experiences. It still hurts after 12 years, but you do learn to go on. God bless your family and you and your family are in our prayers.
