William "Bill" Krugman, age 94, died at his home on Sunday, November 12, 2017. Bill was born in Chicago August 29, 1923 as the only child of Adolph and Kate Krugman. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and was stationed in the Caribbean. After the war he attended college in Chicago receiving a bachelor's degree.
In March 1951, he met Leatrice Paddor and they were married on December 23, 1951 during a snow storm in Chicago. In the early 1950s he started working for Builders Plumbing Supply Company in Chicago. In 1955 when Builders decided to expand to Grand Rapids Michigan he was sent to manage the branch and eventually supervised operations of other branches in Michigan. After about thirty years, he left Builders and worked as an independent representative for various plumbing supply manufacturers.
Throughout his life he traveled extensively with Lea on vacation and business ventures that took them all over the world including trips to China and Russia. They also explored the U.S. which eventually led them to Belvedere Island Plantation in Southeast Georgia where they built a home and retired in the early 1990's. After relocating from Michigan, he enjoyed Belvedere Island and McIntosh County and all the wonderful people whom he met. He also volunteered for the McIntosh County Fire Department for many years.
He is survived by two sons, Charles and Steven Krugman. As a father he encouraged them to pursue and explore various activities as they were growing. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Michael Krugman and Jackie Vierson as well as a host of great grandchildren. He also was very fortunate to have been adopted by special grandchildren Sherry and Jerry Hollis. He was very fortunate and thankful to receive the support of all of his care givers who became special friends during the past few years so that he was able to enjoy and remain in his home. These people provided much support emotionally after Leas's passing in 2011. The care providers are Michelle Dye, Annette Laroache, Hannah Neiber and Julia Pack.
A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at his home, 2417 Belvedere Drive, Townsend on Sunday, November 19th at 3:00 pm. All family and friends are invited to attend.
Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
