

William "Billy" Comer Ray passed away on March 22, 2026, at the age of 86 in Brunswick, GA. Born on February 26, 1940, Billy dedicated over six decades of his life to his career as a butcher in Brunswick, serving his community with dedication and hard work. He was a quiet man who cherished the outdoors and found joy in horseback riding, time outdoors and spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Oveida Powell Ray; Children Terri Owens Woods, Lisa Dawn Ray, and William Jamie Ray; grandchildren, Edward Roy "Trey" Owens III, Jami Lyn Hickman (Joseph), and Victoria Lexie Ray (Takeshi Shinjo); great-grandchildren, Molly Shay Davis, Zoe Mae Kinlaw, and Katherine Anne Hickman; and great-great-grandchildren, Grayson and Carter Prescott. He was preceded in death by Edward Roy "Ricky" Owens II, Lisa Dawn Kelly, Jessica Dawne Owens, Josie Lyn Hickman, and Stevie Woods.
A service to celebrate Billy's life will be held on April 11, 2026, at Marshes of Glynn Baptist Church at 11 am, preceded by a visitation at 10 am in the sanctuary, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall. Billy's life was marked by his unassuming nature, his dedication to his craft, and his deep love for his family. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
