William Michael “Mike” Schrimsher, 65, of Brunswick, passed away at home on Oct. 18, following a brief illness. Mike was born on August 5, 1955, at Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta, Georgia. He was the eldest child of the late William F. “Bill” and Joyce Ledford Schrimsher.
Mike is survived by three precious children, Jeanna Marie and Paul Michael Schrimsher of Plainville, Georgia, and William Benjamin Schrimsher of St. Simons Island, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Jane Gae and William I. Stovall of Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia; previous spouses Thelma Mullins Schrimsher of Plainville, Georgia, and Ginger Dupree Schrimsher of St. Simons Island, Georgia; as well as cousins from both north Georgia and Alabama.
Mike’s father was a career Air Force pilot; life in the military took the family to towns and bases on three continents and several states here in America. He graduated from Taipei American High School in Taiwan, and after returning to the U.S. with his family, Mike moved back to Georgia in 1975. The different turns and relationships in Mike’s life divided his time between north and south Georgia, but the coast had always been a part of him, as he grew up visiting grandparents who lived in Brunswick.
His outgoing personality led him to friendships wherever he lived, and Mike enjoyed sharing time with loved family members and friends, especially on the the beaches of St. Simons, where he resided for some time. Mike’s interest in computers developed into a career, but his love of cooking, grilling, gardening, music, and cars was an enormous part of his life. He was the family’s “pit master” and the delicious results of his grilling skills brought joy to many.
A private ceremony is planned for Mike at a future date and cherished memories will be shared. May he rest in Peace. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.edomillerandsons.com.
