

Wilson A. Thorpe, 72, of St. Simons Island, died Friday, November 23, 2012 at his residence. Memorial services will be held 11AM Monday, November 26, 2012 at St. Simons Island United Methodist Church with Rev. Marsha Cochran officiating.
Born July 28, 1940 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Paul D. and Ollie W. Thorpe, he was the owner of Glass Land and Timber Company. Mr. Thorpe was a former employee of the Central Intelligence Agency where he worked for three years in the early 1960’s. He then attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and graduated first in his class. He took part in a George Washington University Assistantship at the NASA Facility located at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia. Mr. Thorpe also worked for Exxon Research as a consultant. In the mid 2000’s he and his late wife Patricia owned and managed Glass Land and Timber Company. Mr. Thorpe had been a resident of Glynn County for the past eleven years and was a member of St. Simons Island United Methodist Church. He was also an avid radio controlled aircraft enthusiast. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thorpe was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia G. Thorpe and a brother Paul D. Thorpe.
Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Hart Thorpe of St. Simons Island, and Suzanne Thorpe Cedotal and husband Joe, of Crossett, AK, three granddaughters, Harper Charlotte Thorpe Lawton, Lily DeLamar Cedatol, and Emma Wilson Cedatol.
