Zachary Taylor Matjazic

Zachary Taylor “Zach” Matjazic, 41, passed away on March 1, 2025 in St Simons Island, Georgia. Born on May 31, 1983, in Huntsville Alabama. Zach later made St Simons Island his home, where he became a valued community member through his work and kindness.

Over the years he volunteered coaching county baseball and youth wrestling. Zach was a devoted father to his son, Boston Taylor Matjazic, who was the greatest joy of his life. He also cherished his role as a son, oldest brother of six, uncle, and friend. He was known for always having a smile on his face.

He is survived by his mother, Suzanne Jones; his father and stepmother, Richard and Sheila Matjazic: his younger brothers Cody Matjazic, Spenser Matjazic, Tyler Matjazic, Dylan Matjazic, and Kinzer Matjazic. Grandparents Jean Matjazic, and Dan and Charlotte Crunk.

For 24 years, Zach dedicated himself to shaping the architecture of St. Simons Island through Matjazic Enterprises Design and Construction, Majic Trim, and currently Island Home Construction. Taking over the business from his father in 2016, he continued its legacy with passion and craftsmanship.

Many in the community knew him for his work on their homes and for the ever-present smile that accompanied every project he, undertook. His love for carpentry was second only to his love for his son.

Beyond his professional contributions, Zach was deeply involved in the community. After moving from Elkmont, Alabama, he worked alongside his father and uncle building houses and later spent time coaching youth baseball— a testament to his dedication to mentoring young people. Zach found joy in life's simple pleasures: playing tennis with Boston, listening to music while watching sunsets on the beach with a book, and sharing long phone calls with family across the country.

His generosity knew no bounds, if someone had a need, he was always there to lend a hand or an ear. This past year marked a profound spiritual journey for Zach as he accepted Christ into his heart. His faith became evident in the way he lived each day with kindness, optimism, and an open heart toward others. Zachary Taylor Matjazic was a beacon of light to all who knew him, his enthusiasm for life brought joy wherever he went. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.

A memorial service for Zachary will be held Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Wesley Church at Frederica, 6520 Frederica Rd, St Simons Island, GA 31522.
