Laurence Mau Shing Lok

He is survived by Polly, his wife of 39 years marriage; their two children Karina and Maggie; son-in-law Stephen Shum and two grandchildren Audrey and Ayla.

Laurence studied electrical/mechanical engineering after high school at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Subsequently he obtained a Master Degree of Science from Manchester University, England. He is a Chartered Engineer, MIEE and a CGA, CPA. He is a brilliant professional Electrical Engineer supervising the design, construction, and implementation of the engineering power supply system of the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway (MTR) in late 70’s and early 80’s.

He worked with the KCRC (Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation) as the Electrical Engineering Manager responsible for supervising the design and construction of the first Hong Kong light rail overhead cable and power supply infrastructure system engineering, as well as the operation and related infrastructure maintenance after completion. He was proud of his team.

Laurence brought the whole family to Canada for a better quality of life and better education of their two daughters in 1994. Praise the Lord, he became a believer and was baptised one year later! The whole family baptised a few years after him.

With the CGA, Laurence worked in accounting efficiently with a food business in Richmond until retirement.

Laurence is athletic when he was young; he likes swimming, diving, hiking and badminton most. He is also a good photographer. He took a lot of pictures of the beautiful nature around the world that he visited.

Laurence is a life fighter, he suffered from cancer 21 years ago, with radiology treatments he survived! However, he lost hearing a few years ago because of the after-effects of radiology. He had a stroke in 2017 which affected his right-side mobility. Despite the difficulties in health, Laurence was peaceful. He believes that God has the best plan for him.
