Ada Ellen Balzun

Ada Ellen Balzun (Viret), born in Durban, South Africa on August 17, 1924, dear wife of the late Karl Walter Balzun, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at the age of 101 years. Ada will be so very missed by her children Margaret Balzun (Ed Peplinski); Graham (Carla) Balzun; and Carol (Tory) Nudd; and grandchildren Caroline (Sean), Mary (Hunter) and Jack Peplinski; Christianne (Joey) Shaw and Joel (Ellen) Balzun; Lara (Brent) Benavides and Matthew Nudd (Nicolette). She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Joyce of Edmonton and was predeceased by her brothers Ernie and Freddie, and sisters Esme and Elaine.

Ada lived a full life marked by a good sense of humour, love, and generosity of spirit. She was a gentle person and will always be remembered for the love and time she gave so freely to her family and to the many people who were fortunate enough to know her.

The family wishes to thank our Mom’s caregivers for their love and compassionate care which, with the support of Alberta Health Services, enabled her to continue living at home for the past six years. We would also like to thank the medical and support staff at both the Rockyview General Hospital and the Mayfair Care Centre for their care and compassion for our Mom over the weeks prior to her passing.

A Celebration of Ada’s life will be held at Southview Church in Calgary, 20200 Walden Boulevard SE on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Hope Mission Calgary at hopemission.com.
