August 26, 1912 - August 26, 2011
Dell found comfort and peace on her 99th birthday after living a full and rich life. Dell was born in Zion, Saskatchewan, the third youngest of twelve children. She grew up on a farm until she left to study at the Concord Business College in Edmonton. As a young girl she liked to speed skate and play tennis. Dell met her future husband, "Mac" McDonald in Rosetown, Saskatchewan while working in the bank. They moved to Alberta and raised two sons, Barry and Don McDonald; eventually settling in Calgary in 1958. Dell was active in Eastern Star, Friendship chapter and the Grace Lutheran Church. She volunteered with Calgary's Meals on Wheels. Dell devoted her life to raising her two sons and caring for her family's well being. She was predeceased by her husband, Stewart McDonald and her youngest son Don McDonald. Dell is lovingly remembered by her son, Barry McDonald, her granddaughter Tanis Csokonay and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Dell’s life will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 -4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 3:00p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Grace Lutheran Church, 3610 Sarcee Road SW, Calgary, AB T3E 4T4. Barry would like to thank the staff and management of the Mount Royal Care Centre for their devoted care of Dell in her final years. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
