Alan Tsutomu Omotani passed away peacefully at the Southwood Hospice in Calgary, AB on January 5, 2020 at the age of 69 years.

Alan is survived by his wife Kathleen; sons Mark Montgomery (Daphne) and Todd Omotani (Irena); grandchildren Abigail, Kaden, Bosiljka and Kumajiro; brothers Albert, Bobby (Hilda) and Leslie (Barbara). He was predeceased by his parents Kumajiro and Fumie Omotani and sister Marion Wakelen.

Alan was born in Taber, AB on September 22, 1950. He grew up in the surrounding area and then went to the University of Alberta in 1969. Afterward, he settled in Calgary.

Alan and Kathy were married for 46 years; they had two wonderful sons and four amazing grandchildren. Al enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, golfing, curling, playing pool, fishing and playing cards. He was a past member of both Chinook Rotary and Kinsmen. He was a current member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 2098.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 2098, (9303 5 Street SE), on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Alan’s memory directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.
