Albert, a devoted and loving husband and father, passed away in Calgary, AB at the age of 88 years. He was born in Pilawa, Poland and then moved to Germany. In 1952 he immigrated to Canada with his family. The family worked together on a sugar beet farm for two years before all moving to Calgary. In 1959, Albert married Arlene Munns, a nurse from Saskatchewan; his passing leaves them 4 days short of 65 years together. For twelve years Albert worked at the Union Packing Company. He then began driving a bus for Calgary Transit, a job he would enjoy for 29 years, meeting many life-long friends. Albert enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, camping, travelling, square dancing, playing chess, photography, participating in toastmasters, participating in the transit support group, and volunteering with his church.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene; his daughter and son-in-law, Karen & Jim Williams; sister, Elsa Roth; nephews, Ed Wolff, Robert Roth, Ron Roth, Rick Wolff, and David Wolff; niece, Susan Labelle; and his 8 great-nephews and 3 great-nieces. Albert was predeceased by his brothers, Art and Ewald; sisters-in-law, Gertrude and Edith; brother-in-law, Rudi Roth; and niece, Julie Wolff.
A Memorial Service to honour Albert’s life will be held at ST. MATTHEW LUTHERAN CHURCH (66 - 7 St NE, Calgary, AB T2E 4B7) on Saturday, September 7 at 1:00PM with Rev. Markus Zeuch officiating. Reception in church to follow.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the team at AgeCare Bow Crest for the wonderful, kind care he received during his final two years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
