Peacefully on May 31, 2013 Al passed away at the Midnapore Beverly Care Centre. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and soul-mate Carol, his four children Lisa (Arto), Craig (Linda), Todd (Heather), Christopher (Ashley); four grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Mark), Sarah, Braeden, Brooklyn and one great-grandchild, Maddon. He was pre-deceased by his parents Anne and Bill and brother Laurie.
Al was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and moved to Winnipeg at a very young age where he met Carol. After moving his family to Calgary in 1971, he thrived while working in commercial real estate. His love of sports was legendary. Nothing ever got in the way of a good game of hockey or football. Al was an avid golfer, curler and bowler. He was also heavily involved with the Lake Bonavista Community, coaching his sons' sports teams. Al's love of a good card game with friends and family has become tradition.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Midnapore Beverly Care Centre for their care and compassion for Al over the last few years. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #200, 119 – 14 St NW, Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6.
A “Celebration of Al's Life" will be held in an informal setting at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South, (at Lake Fraser Gate) Calgary on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.
Al shall always be remembered for his deep love of family, his generosity, patience and kindness. "You will be dearly missed by all."
