Along the way there were spectacular adventures, new discoveries and beautiful views. There were profound joys and painful losses, uphill battles and sweet victories. There were important lessons and difficult choices and always, I learned that Love was the answer.
I give credit to my parents, who raised me and my siblings to be strong and independent, and to always be in awe of the gifts of God and Mother Nature. I celebrate my years with Charlie, my first love, and the father of our five wonderful kids. I give gratitude for my husband Ed, both of us finding a second chance at love – our life together richly blessed with our many kids, friendships, travel and the privilege of sharing old age.
I believe I will be remembered for my passion for cooking and serving others; my well-tested faith; my deep commitment to family and friends; and for my steadfast belief that all of my grandchildren are angels.
My kids will undoubtedly recall my willful spirit (they can’t forget since they all inherited the same); my fierce love - that grew tender over time; my collection of rocks, seashells, and wayward souls; and my lifelong affinity for the Prairies and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
I was predeceased by my parents, Nellie and Mike Gryba, my first husband Charlie Poncelet, and my siblings Mary Griffin, Hope Poncelet and William Gryba.
I part with all of you at precisely the right time – when the Lord called – I was ready.
May God Bless you and keep you until we meet again.
A Memorial Service will be held at Bonavista Baptist Church, (1507 Acadia Dr SE), on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Foothills Country Hospice. The staff there are all angels. Truly. Mom said this repeatedly and joked that they were killing her with kindness and love. Also - a special thank you to Dr. Leung – for years of genuine fondness and exceptional care of our mom.
