It took me days to find the right words and truthfully, there still aren’t any that could fully describe you.
I may not have been blood, but Jen and Robert Slimmon welcomed me into their family with open arms,and in doing so, I truly feel like I won the lottery. Because that meant I got you and Bob. From the very beginning, you both treated me like I was your own, never once making me feel like anything less.
There are so many memories I will hold onto forever. Being your “co-chef” with Rob around the fire, getting caught up in conversation while the food burned (Rob definitely wasn’t impressed,but we couldn’t stop laughing). Camping for you and Bob’s anniversary, sneaking off exploring in the dark, then hiding behind a tree laughing so hard we could barely breathe while everyone searched for us. Those moments will always stay with me.
I loved seeing you at the office those quick visits with coffee, little chats before your appointments, and of course, showing off your earrings because you knew I would never miss noticing them. They were always so beautiful just like you.
The fact that you got to meet my daughter, your granddaughter, meant more than I can put into words. To me, that meant everything. To her, you will always be Grandma Bernice,the “beautiful princess.” She adored your bedazzled shirts and still says she wants ones just like yours.
You were one of the most caring people I have ever known. Truly. Words can never explain how kind, sweet, and genuine you were. You cared about everyone, and it showed—every neighbor knew your name, and that says everything about the kind of person you were.
Thank you for accepting me and my family as your own. Thank you for showing me that family isn’t just about blood—it’s about love, presence, and how you show up for people.
I miss you so much. I’m sorry it took me until after we laid you to rest to post this I just couldn’t find the words.
You will forever be missed !

My condolence's to Bob, Calvin, Robbie and Family.    I have great memories as a child visiting your home in Calgary (a few different homes I might add) on our summer trips and seeing everyone at the family Reunions.  I recall thinking back that every time Alice, Bernice and Lil would be all together would be so much excitement in the house, lots of talking and cooking going on.   Thinking back of that now brings a warmth to my heart.    Bernice was a great Aunt, and I will always have good memories that will live on.

Bernice was a very Special Lady.   She loved her family so much. 
Bob was the love of her life.  She adored her children, and grandchildren.   Also little Brianna, her great-granddaughter.

Whenever there was a dinner or get together she was always right there to help or bring one of her fabulous deserts.

She was so fun loving and friendly to everyone.  Bernice was a people magnet.   Everyone was drawn to her.

I will miss the visits and time that we all spent together.  It will be so different without her.

Your purpose on earth is done - Bernice.  You now get to rest, we'll never forget you.

I love you mom I already miss you. Im sad your not here but glad to know your in a better place. You have worked hard all your life as a kid and growing up and in later years building a home and raising a family. Its time you rest now and I will always miss you.

Bob and family.  Our heartfelt condolences to all of you on the passing of Bernice.  

Bernice was a special neighbour, always with a welcome smile and kind heart.  The neighbourhood won’t be the same without her.  

May loving thoughts and memories bring you some comfort during this difficult time.

I will always remember you and Rob barbequing in the backyard, laughing at each other as you tried to get the food just right. It was never just about the cooking—it was about the joy, the teasing, and the time spent together.

And then, like clockwork, came the familiar debate—Bob and Rob arguing about whether it was time for cheesecake and coffee, or if it was better to wait just a little longer. It happened almost every time we barbequed, and it was always so fun to watch.

Those moments may have seemed small, but they were everything. They were full of life, laughter, and love. They’re the memories that stay with me, and the ones I’ll always hold close to my heart.

My Mom,

You had a way of making everything feel warm and safe. Whether you were out in the garden, quietly tending to your flowers, or in the kitchen making your famous cheesecake, you filled our home with love in the smallest, most beautiful ways.

I’ll always think of you knitting—blankets and slippers made not just to keep us warm, but to remind us how much you cared. Every stitch was a piece of your love, and we felt it.

I can still hear you practicing your accordion, trying so hard to make it sing. And it did—because it sounded like you. Gentle, patient, and full of heart.

You always made sure everyone else had something to eat and drink before you ever thought of yourself. You would sit last, making sure everyone was comfortable, everyone was okay. That was who you were—always giving, always loving, always putting us first.

Mom, your love shaped my life in more ways than I can ever say. I will carry you with me in everything I do—in every act of kindness, every moment of care, every bit of warmth I can pass on to others.

I love you so much, and I miss you more than words will ever be able to hold.

Until we meet again, Mom… thank you for everything.

My favorite memory of grandma Bernice is when she made two delicious pies at my wedding-apple and lemon. She was a talented dessert maker and I always looked forward to family gatherings where I could.eat her food. She also was talented at knitting and she made my baby Brianna a beautiful baby blanket which I will treasure forever
