July 26, 1922-December 19, 2015
Born July 26, 1922 in Calgary to William Edward Frame and Annie Kline Kemm. Died in Calgary on December 19, 2015. Survived by her two sons, Dr. Bill Yates (Susan) of Lethbridge, and C. Kemm Yates, QC (Wendy Moreland) of Calgary; four grandchildren, Ryan (Tera) of Calgary, Jill (David Dahlgren) of Vancouver, and Elspeth and Alice of Calgary; and five great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Julia, Darius, Eric and Luke. Also survived by her sister, Adrienne McLennan and two nieces, Susan McLennan (Michael Erskine-Kellie) and Heather McLennan (Peter Kurelek, Holly, Daisy), all of Toronto. “Betty Pat” grew up in Coronation, Drumheller and Calgary, where she trained at the Holy Cross Hospital to obtain her R.N. designation in 1944. When her sons were in high school, Pat returned to the University of Alberta to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She practiced her nursing profession in the Armed Forces during World War II and in hospitals, schools and the public health service until her retirement in 1987. She was active in the Alberta Association of Registered Nurses. A strong and independent woman, Pat was a compassionate caregiver, an impressive intellect, a caring and inspirational mother and grandmother, an empathetic supporter of the underprivileged, and a kind and charitable individual with an insatiable curiosity for life. The world was enhanced by her presence and is diminished by her passing. Cremation by Foster’s Garden Chapel. A celebration of her life will be held in Pat’s favorite season, springtime, details to be announced. If friends so desire, memorial tributes to the charity of their choice would be appreciated. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
