Bill Wong

It is with great sadness the family of Bill Wong announces his passing at the Foothills Hospital on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Bill was born in Golden, British Columbia to his parents Robert See Mine Wong and Joy Yit Yee Wong. They would eventually move to Calgary where they would solidify their roots. Here, Bill would meet his wife, Yan Qun Wong and spent the last 36 loving years together.

Bill began his academic journey studying Chemistry at the University of Calgary, followed by an Instrumentation Program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). Upon completing his studies, he joined Western Research, where he gained valuable industrial experience, technical knowledge, and professional connections. Leveraging these strengths, Bill and his partners founded Entech, a company dedicated to Air Pollution Regulation. After Entech was acquired by Maxxam (now Bureau Veritas), Bill continued his work there as the Lab Manager of the Air Division until his retirement.

Bill was known for his infectious smile and uncanny ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. Bill had a passion and love for golf; you were certain to see him on the course every summer. However, Bill’s greatest enjoyment in life was being a husband, father, grandfather, and spending time with friends and family.

Bill is lovingly survived by his wife (Qun), children Justin, Jason (Susanna) and grandchildren Theodore “Taeho” and Olivia “Taeyeon”; brother Garry Wong and nieces Stephanie & Ashlee; sister Sammee (Robert) Coutts and niece Jacqueline. He is also survived by numerous family members across Canada and the USA.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the care and compassion of the staff, nurses and physicians at the Arthur Child Cancer Centre and Intensive Care Unit.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

Bill believed in giving back to causes near and dear to his heart. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alberta Cancer Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta.
