Carol Marlene Steele (Matthews) (nee Berry), beloved wife of Irving, passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Born in Wetaskiwin on November 20, 1936, she was a devoted mother to Cindy (Mike) and Scott (Mauna) and Louise (Alex) and loving grandmother to her six grandchildren Michelle (Matt), Ryan (Rachel), Vikki (Ian), Jackie, Carri and McKayla. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Calvin, brother Don, sister Ruth; daughter Debby and first husband Walter.
Carol was well known for her unwavering dedication to community, tireless support of youth programs including Girl Guides of Canada and Youth Justice as well as numerous business associations and above all love of family.
A Memorial Service will be held at South Calgary Funeral Centre, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate) in Calgary on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a reception.
