Christina Mary Schuh

Christina "Chris" of Calgary, AB was born February 6, 1934 at home in St. John’s Homestead near Denzil, SK to Roy and Monica Winterhalt and was the third oldest of 10 children. She passed away Friday, January 31, 2025 at her home in Calgary just six days before her 91st birthday.

She married Vincent Schuh on January 7, 1953 in Reward, SK. They made Calgary their home in 1954 and together they raised eight children.

She is survived by seven of her eight children. Carol, Bernadette, Robert (Ellen), Norbert (Cathi), Douglas, David (Janine) and Paul; thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; her siblings Agnes Vlooswyk, Barbara Glatt, Virginia (Don) Rogers, Anna Hall and James (Rhelda) Winterhalt; in-laws Clara, Joe and Karl and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Chris was an excellent role-model to all of us in her family. She was great with her children and grandchildren, the ultimate in patience and understanding. She was always happy to have her grandkids visit her and spoiled them with her baking, making sock monkeys (among many other things) and playing chess.

She had numerous interests and talents including sewing, knitting, baking, woodworking and painting. She was a great cook and loved making meals for her big family. She was amazing with her sewing and knitting machines, spending many hours perfecting the clothes she made for her kids and grandkids. And after all of that, she still somehow managed to keep an immaculate house.

She had a serious crush on Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell. She and her sisters saw him four or five times and on one occasion arrived to the show in style via limousine.

She spent her last two years living at Atria retirement community in Arbour Lake where she made numerous friends and especially liked her bridge nights and Tuesday afternoon horse races. Many thanks to the staff and her friends at Atria for making her time there so enjoyable.

Chris was predeceased by husband Vincent; son Michael; son-in-law Jim Veale; siblings Katherine, Anthony, Andelina, Marion; in-laws Ted, Albert, Vincent, and Bill.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Prayer Service held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at CORPUS CHRISTI PARISH, 404 Northmount Place NW, Calgary, Alberta on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.

After Mass there will be a gathering and tributes at Thorncliffe Greenview Community, 5600 Centre Street North.
