Connie was born in England and was educated at the Haberdasher Askes School and at The London School of Economics, where she gained her B.A degree. She met her husband Philip while at University, and they were married in 1952 in Rolla, Missouri. They eventually moved to Canada, and settled in Calgary to raise their family. Work took them to Venezuela for three years, before they returned to Calgary.
Connie and Philips' love of travel led to visits to Scotland, England, where they fell in love with the magical Isles of Scilly, and further travels led to adventures in other European countries, the United States and the Caribbean.
A longtime member of St. Peters Anglican Church, she was an active participant in St. Peters Players, and helping with the Junior Choir. Her love of history lead her to the study of Philips' and her family ancestry, years before it became popular. Back home, she and her good friends enjoyed Aquafit and getting together for a Book Club and good conversations. Her garden, wild flowers and birds enthralled her.
She was predeceased by her husband Philip, and her son-in-law Richard Osborne. She is survived by her son David (Dawn), daughter Alison Osborne, and son Ian (Alana), her Grandsons Stephen, Edward and Jeffrey, and close family members and friends in Canada, England and Australia.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff of the Intensive Care Unit at the Peter Lougheed Hospital for their tender, compassionate care. Thank you also to the staff of Unit 29, and the Physiotherapy team, who worked so hard with Connie for so long.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Peters Anglican Church, 903 - 75th Avenue S.W. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 1:30 pm.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to STARS Air Ambulance, 1441 Aviation Park N.E. Box 570. Calgary, Alberta, T2E 8M7.
