1930 - 2004
74 years ago on May 19, Curt was born in Los Angeles, CA. On May 23, 2004, surrounded at home by his family, Dad passed away. He left a legacy of caring, hard work, love, and understanding. While growing up in Newdale and Basswood, MB he met his life's companion Betty. Last Saturday, May 15, they celebrated their fiftieth year of marriage. From Basswood, they moved to Brandon, and then on to Dawson Creek and Fort St. John where Dad began his thirty-three year career with Continental Emsco. It was there that his first son Clare (Julie, Cale and Eric) was born. From BC, Mom and Dad moved to Edmonton where Dad was the assistant manager of CE's supply store and where their daughter Joanne was born. In 1965, Dad and Mom set roots in Calgary where Dad managed CE's local store, and finished his career. In Calgary Mom and Dad completed their family with Marc (Mitzi, Carter, Cooper and Hope). A family man to the core, Dad was involved in many activities from coaching his kids' sports teams, to being a Scout Master, and community volunteer. In 1990 Dad began a long awaited, and well deserved, retirement during which he enjoyed traveling, golfing, and, most of all, spending time with family. Dad will live on in all of us and will be deeply missed. It is our hope that Dad and Clare will watch over and guide us for the rest of our lives. We would like to thank the staff at the TBCC and the nurses of the Palliative Home Care team for doing all they could to make Dad's final days comfortable. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Second Floor, 215 - 12 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 1A2. Dad's memorial will be held at JACQUES FUNERAL HOME (corner of Macleod Trail South and Lake Fraser Gate) on Thursday, May 27, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.mem.com.
