Dan Bryant passed away peacefully on July 28, 2017 at the Walden Heights Seniors’ Care Centre at the age of 90 years. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 67 years, Velma (Kvigstad) Bryant; and his four children, Richard (Heather), Randy (Debbie), Sharon (Walter Adolph), and David (Val). He leaves behind twelve grandchildren, Meghan Morden, Adam Bryant, Treena Primmer, Jarod Bryant, Derek Bryant, Bryan Adolph, Nicole Adolph, Jessica Pierson, Chelsea Spackman, Mark Pierson, Tanessa Bryant, and Mercedez Bryant. There are many great-grandchildren who have also enjoyed their too-brief time with their great-grandpa. He was predeceased by all his full siblings, Hazel, Margaret, Don and Walter. Dan was born in Calgary on March 10, 1927, the fourth child of Earl and Norah (French) Bryant. He grew up in south and central Alberta, with many years spent in the Innisfail area. He started a career in sales in Edmonton, and that’s where he met the love of his life, Velma. They moved to Calgary early in their marriage, and he had a productive sales career and rich community life there. He especially enjoyed his many years as a realtor – with a second identity as “Dan the Fudge Man”. Dan’s most consuming interest and love in his life was his family. While much of this focused on his own lucky children and their families, he was also the brother or brother-in-law that was always happy to drop everything to lend a hand, or just to attend yet another family reunion. His family was honored to return the favor of caring for him over his last five years spent at the Walden Heights Care Centre battling numerous health concerns. We would like to thank the dedicated and caring staff who also assisted him in living his last few years in comfort. A Funeral Service will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Peter Coutts officiating.
