

Darcy was born on January 4, 1972 in Richmond, British Columbia to Don and Sharon Blonke. He lived at various places in the USA and Canada, graduating from Newport High School in Bellevue, Washington and completed his education with an Associate’s Degree of Commerce from the Bellevue Community College. He moved to Grande Prairie in 1998 and worked in accounting and finance at various firms in Grande Prairie; the last one being Liquid Edge Oilfield Services Ltd. In 2019 he suffered a severe stroke that paralyzed his right side, and he lost his ability to communicate effectively. In early 2020 he moved to Calgary to continue his rehab and he worked hard to recover, right up to the day of his passing.
Darcy always had a ready smile and was well liked by all. In his younger years he was active in sports playing rugby and football in high school. He was an avid fisherman making many trips throughout Western Canada, Continental USA and Alaska to pursue his passion. Marly, a big Golden Lab was his constant companion. Darcy also enjoyed snowboarding and skiing and cooking up various recipes on his smoker grill.
Darcy is survived and will be sadly missed by his parents Don and Sharon Blonke of Calgary, his brother and sister-in-law Rod, and Julie Blonke; one nephew, Lincoln, and two nieces Ella and Georgia, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his uncle Arnold Blonke and numerous cousins in the USA and Canada. Darcy is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Harry and Ida Warnke of Portland, Oregon and his paternal grandparents John and Kathleen Blonke of Grande Prairie, Alberta.
A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 2:00 PM
Interment will be for family and close friends only.
