It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing our beloved Friend, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother of only 66 years of age. Darlene passed peacefully at the Dulcina Hospice as she lost her battle to cancer. It does not matter how you knew Darlene she will have easily found her way into your heart. She enjoyed entertaining, gardening, and most of all – cleaning. If you ever stopped by for a visit you left with a full belly and a face sore from laughing. She loved to spoil her husband, children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren. Christmas baking was another month long adventure as everyone got piles of home-made goodies and had treats for days. Darlene will always be loved and fondly remembered by all. She leaves behind her husband Larry, son Ryan (Tara-lee) Sagert, daughter Jodi Sagert, 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sister Diane (Eric) Hermann, sister June Demers, brother-in-law Darwin Melin, sister Ruby (Iain) Weikl, mother-in-law May Graas, brother-in-law Al Graas, brother-in-law Don (Beth) Graas, sister-in-law Judy (George) Boland, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Darlene is predeceased by her parents Asher Eli and Gladys Shaw, her sisters Roberta Muir and Dorothy Melin, her brother-in-laws Stuart Muir and Leo Demers, sister-in law Bev Graas, and father-in-law Alex Graas. The Family would like to extend a huge thank you to the caregivers at the Dulcina Hospice for their great care and compassion to Darlene during her stay with them. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in her name to the Dulcina Hospice.

A Memorial Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

We will always remember the sunny days gardening in the backyard with Darlene. Her big laugh, big energy and big heart warmed our days. She was the best neighbor anyone could have asked for. We will miss her dearly and our sincere condolences go out to her family.
