Darwin Allan Kraft

1947 - 2010

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darwin in Calgary, Alberta at the Foothills Hospital on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the age of 63 years. Darwin is survived by his beloved wife Rosemarie and his two loving children Lynette (Kris) Moen and Darcy (Erica) Kraft; one grandchild Taryn Faith Moen, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his one sister, Velma (Jim) Colwell of Leduc, Alberta. He was predeceased by his father William Kraft and his mother and stepfather Edna and Stan Hilton. Darwin was born in Lacombe, Alberta, and was raised and educated in New Brigden, Alberta. On August 30, 1969 he married his High School sweetheart, Rosemarie Faichuk of Oyen. He was actively involved in playing and coaching baseball his entire life, his greatest accomplishment was being able to coach at the Babe Ruth World Series, which was a life long goal of his. Darwin was also recognized for his leadership and coaching excellence by the City of Calgary with a 2008 Calgary Booster Club Award. He was fortunate to enjoy an early retirement from Sysco Foods and he loved every minute of his retired lifestyle. Darwin spent numerous hours working in his yard, being in his garden, watching sports, and traveling. Darwin did all this while being a great husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He will be remembered for his soft-spoken words and his generous nature. Darwin will be greatly missed by everyone that was touched by his kind heart. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 - 4 Street NW Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jagdutt Singh officiating. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta #200, 119 – 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 or the Canadian Diabetes Association #204, 2323 – 32 Avenue N.E.
