After a short illness, Don passed away Sunday at the Bow Crest Care Centre in Calgary. He leaves behind two sons, Steven (Lyn) and Brent (Susan); their mother Betsy Henley; his two grandchildren Liam and Wren; his sister Reta and his brother Glen Jones. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Viola Henley and his brother Fred Jones.
Don grew up in Regina and spent most of his working career as a Landman in Alberta with Allied Land Services, Alberta Gas Trunk Line, Canadian Engineering Surveys and PanCanadian. In 1992 he was the first Canadian citizen to become President of the International Right of Way Association.
The family would like to thank the staff from Sarcee Hospice and Bow Crest Care Centre who have given him such great care during the last 3 ½ years. No services are planned. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, a donation in Don’s memory may be made directly to the Alzheimers Society of Calgary (www.alzheimercalgary.com #201, 222 – 58 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB T2H 2S3). Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family in the Guest Book section found adjacent to this obituary.
