March 4, 1982August 3, 2019

We announce with great sadness, the sudden passing of Donald "Donny" Konkin at the age of 37 years.

Donny is survived by his wife Ashley; daughter Journey; and son Legend. He is also survived by his grandma Betty; sisters Zandria, Sara (nephew Jayden) and Cassidy; aunt/mom Sharon & uncle Les; cousins Jeff, Angela and Stephanie; in-laws Linda and Lorne; and many friends and colleagues.

Donny moved to Okotoks from Kelowna in July 2010 and began his career at Costco, working his way up to area manager.

He loved building things, everything from complicated Lego sets to creating furniture out of reclaimed wood. His quirky sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him.

Donny’s children, Journey and Legend, were his greatest pride and treasure and will be his lasting legacy. A Celebration of Life will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

I met Donny at Costco 2012 when I first started working there. He was always very kind & considerate manager, recently I needed new tires & he was very helpful to assist me with that matter. Always had time to say Hello with a smile & a nod. Will be dearly missed.

I first met Donny in elementary school and we continued to be friends through highschool. I will always remember his sense of humor, his infectious laugh, his great big smile and his genuine kind spirit. He loved making things from his own clothing to woodwork projects. I am so saddened and heartbroken for his family. He touched many lives and will not be forgotten. RIP my friend.

I went to high school with Donny and remember some great times rollerblading with friends to the beach or for ice cream. He was such a quirky and unique guy with a great smile and sense of humor and had room in his heart for all different kinds of people. He was very kind and smart and not afraid to be his true self. I’m so saddened to hear that he leaves a wife and children - though happy to hear that he found love and lived the true joy of being a parent. I know he will be missed. Rest well Donny.
