Obituary of Donald Stephen Lock
IN THE CARE OF

South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium

Donald Stephen Lock, age 76, of Calgary, Alberta passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Stephen Lock, age 76, of Calgary, AB. Don passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Burnaby, BC, on April 9, 1949, Don spent his early years on the West Coast. At age 11, his family moved to Ucluelet on Vancouver Island, where he developed a lifelong love for the ocean, fishing and the simple joys of island life. He often fondly recalled watching the waves at Long Beach during the 1964 Alaska earthquake—memories that reflected both his adventurous spirit and deep connection to nature.

Don was a dedicated and hardworking man. Before retirement, he worked as a supervisor in the wastewater division of the Capital Regional District in Victoria BC. After retiring, Don and his beloved wife Angie moved to the interior of BC residing in Little Fort and Oliver before eventually settling in Calgary to be closer to family.

Don and Angie shared 53 wonderful years of marriage and built a loving legacy together. He is survived by Angie, their three children: Collin Lock (Gina), Niki Wright (Kyle), and Trevor Lock (Susi); seven grandchildren: Andrew Muntain (Megan), Sarah Brown (Kienan), Logan Muntain, Kelsy Wright, Alyssa Nelson (Tyson), Lyla Lock, and Maverick Lock; and nine great-grandchildren.

He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings: Terry Lock (Brenda), Gail Harasymchuk (Arnold), and Tom Lock (Kim); his in-laws: Mike Vogels, Pati Potter (Fedel), and Linda Lowe (Arnie); along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Burley Lock and Doris Stephens.

Don’s quiet strength, humour, and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.

A celebration of life will be held on October 5, 2025, at the Esquimalt Gorge Park Pavilion, Victoria BC from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
